Yeah, the main reason I like the GCX is that it makes things easy.

Like say you have a set list of 20 songs and every night you play them in the same order. You can set it up so that the top 8 buttons are just like having 8 buttons on a pedal board. The bottom 4 I assign to a particular song (something like Intro, Bridge, Chorus, Solo). So if you need 5 pedals on then 2 different ones on then 6 different ones you hit one button, so it's easy to use.

There is a bank up/down switch so you just hit that and you're all set for the next song.

The downside is that you can't reach over and tweak something, but I don't really do that. Also, you need a good wah (if you use one) and put that and your tuner in front of the GCX.

The other upside is if you're playing on big stages the buffer is really, really nice and there is zero noise compared to anything else I had tried.

The other plus is the pedals are in a rack and less likely to get messed with/stolen.

When I go out locally and stuff (or when I'm recording) I still have a pedal board out of doubles of what I need as I have a lot of pedals not in use all the time:

I had the rack with pedal trays with the Voodoo GCX/Ground Control system. I loved it.

When my back gave out (the big one) several years back -- I went back to a pedalboard.

I'm using the following order in case you can't see:

1- Boss Slow Gear (this is a cool pedal hard to describe)
2- Maxon Comp (I had the Demeter and alsolike the old 3 knob Boss but live I use a pair of SLO-100s and this works best with it)
3- Klon Centuar (this is a boost I bought when I was in college from the dude that made it)
4- Maxon OD-808 (kind of like a Tube Screamer but a little cleaner)
5- Fuchs Creme de la Trem (this is like a brown Fender Trem - love this thing. My desert island pedal)
6- DOD Chorus (I have the CE-1, the Fulltone and the TC Electronics. This one is still my fav)
7- Ibanez Flanger (I needed a Flanger and this one is cheap and it sounds cool)
8- Chandler Rack Delay (I have the TTE but this is easier to move and sounds better then any pedal I have heard - disclaimer I have not heard many pedals).

I use this GCX job which is kind of neat. I set it up by set list on tours and use the bottom 4 for intro, bridge, chorus, solo per song and the top 8 turn the loops on and off. It lets you preset multiple pedals so you only hit one button. It does more then that but that is what I use it for.

Also have a Vox Wah with true bypass and Perterson tuner on the floor:

Very cool ... which Maxon compressor is it that you use?

did a few gigs with the PT2 and decided to go back to my PTJr.

I only kept the pedals that I use and eliminated a couple.

    Gone -- RC Booster
    Replaced by Ego compressor

Since I got the Ego -- I think I turned the RC on maybe 2x and that is it.

    Gone - AC Booster
    Replaced by - nothing

Just not using it --I use the OD on the Carol ann - 90% of the time and when it needs goosing, I do it with the BB Pre-Amp.

Gone - TC electronic shaker vibrato
    Replaced by - Nothing

Love the pedal -- but I really don not have much use for it. I am keeping it -- I can always break it out if we add a couple of tunes that can use a vibe effect.

    Current chain on the PTJR

    > 3leaf Proton > Tuner > Ego compressor > BB Pre-Amp . MXR 70's RI Phaser > Demeter Tremulator > analogman chorus > Amp Input

    Loop same as always

Providence 80's Delay | Wet Reverb

    Re: BGT Pedalboard Thread

I only have one make of pedal on my board... :D

My preferred set up of our range is.... Ego | Paisley Drive | SLOstortion | Nirvana | Faux AnalogEcho | Faux Tape Echo | Faux Sprint Reverb.

I am always bending Brian's ear about making a Phaser/Flanger so until then...

Dependent on what amp I am using, I somethimes stick a Black '65 in there to make the tone go all glassy, I use it as a pre-amp (end of chain) rather than a dirt pedal. That is it's best use I feel by a mile.

Anyway, it should be no surprise that I exclusively use Wampler

    Re: BGT Pedalboard Thread

    Here's my board:

Pardon the messy wiring I'm using an Octa-Switch to choose presets on the fly. I have a Tech 21 Liverpool because I sometimes play at places that don't have amps or don't allow amps onstage. My signal chain is as follows:

EB VP Jr. >> Octa Switch input
Loop 1: Pro Analog Supa Quack
Loop 2: Analogman King of Tone v4 (high gain mod)
    Loop 3: Analogman Bi-Chorus
    Loop 4: Lovepedal Eternity E6
Loop 5: Catalinbread Super Chili Picoso
    Loop 6: Empress Tremolo
    Loop 7: Eventide TimeFactor
Loop 8: Dr. Scientist Radical Red Reverberator
    >> Octa-Switch output >> Tech 21 Liverpool >> Peterson Strobostomp >> to amp
