It really is unbelievable. 3000.00 for what? The dude sticks the pedals to the board, big deal. This guy has not even built a pedal from what I can tell. A couple cheap mods or NO mods and charges an unreal amount. All based on hype, go to his website and look at the user list,...All these guys are being used by Mason. Hype is crazy,,, there are folks comparing him to Pete Cornish, others saying he has an engineering degree and graduated a year early,...ALL BS,....Shit if he keeps it up,... he could landa job right in the White House

As is always the case .... the truth will eventually come out and take a serious bite out of your ass ... and in some cases that first bite will be fatal.

I talked to him a while back to wire a small board for me -- and he wanted $3,000

Needless to say I never called him back ---

vertex effects axis wah, vertex effects cables, vertex effects volume pedal .... what is next the vertex effects Trainwreck pedal or the Vertex Effects laudau chorus pedal?

With so many folks finally looking under the hood of these Vertex Effects pedals and cables and finding probable cause to doubt claims made by Vertex Effects regarding the design and manufacturing of the Vertex pedals, and cables ... I think it is appropriate to make sure potential customers have access to information so they can make an informed decision if they want to buy a Vertex Effects Axis wah, pedal or cable or not.

We do not have any "favorite sons" here at BGT nor do we "shill" for any builder or manufacturer.

5 or 6 years ago I bought a "B stock" BBE wah pedal. I bought it because I liked its sound and feel, it was cheap and I wanted to save whatever life was remaining on the Thomas I've had since the Seventies. This thread and the others like it have helped reaffirm my decision.

What I am going to say won't be all that popular, but it's my honest opinion.

Most of the expensive things I buy are old/used. For new things I mainly stick to the bigger companies.

The only boutique or small maker things I buy are unique products that someone has come up with. When I bought my Klon it was because a local guy made a killer pedal and there wasn't anything out there that did what it did. Same thing with the other smaller company stuff.

The moral of the story here is that there is a sucker born every minute. Back in the day, if you wanted a pedal you went to a couple stores and tried what was available and made a decision. Today, the shilling machine (and it's a strong machine on quite a few forums) is stronger then people's ears.

It's interesting that some forum moderators will close/delete threads about things like this.

There are some great small builders out there that sell great products, but honestly there is a reason companies like Boss, Eventide, Dunlop, etc... make a ton of money and are on a lot of big name boards out there.

Obviously there are great low number things out there, but if you want a TS-9, 5E3, DM-2, etc... going to the source more times then not is better and cheaper. I only buy the fancy stuff when there is something unique out there.

If you need something specific like a board to be wired or a gadget to solve a problem people like Bob Bradshaw, Analog Mike, Shad, Pete Cornish, Bill Finnegan, Andy Fuchs, and a bunch of other people out there have been in business and been successful because they do great work that speaks for itself and are not internet hype machines.

    Just my two cents.

PS - BBE made a really good clone of the Boss VB-1. Maybe we should buy them up, get some goop and spray paint and start a waiting list over at Al Jazeera.

I had a couple of real pedal snobs look at my board at a gig
    1. Klon - approved
    2. Wampler - approved
    3. Wet reverb - approved
    4. Eventide - approved
    etc etc

but when they get to my delay -- an MXR Carbon Copy -- they look at it and it is a WTF moment. $140 delay pedal?

they could not believe it sounded so good. It is like how can a delay pedal you can buy used for $90 sound that good. The one you have must be special or something.

I end up laughing my ass off and tell them that the CC is one of the best delay pedals out there. Unless you are looking to do some whacky things with delays you don't need anything fancy -- just something that sounds good.

I was going to buy a second one for my board but Analogman announced that he is changing the box of his ARDX20 Dual Analog Delay to a flat box style (which will fit better on my board) so I am waiting to take delivery on one of those. Great delay ( 2 independent settings) -- very straight forward and inexpensive.

Does the Carbon Copy boost your tone a little when the pedal in engaged?

Re: PSA - Vertex Axis Wah is a relabeled BBE Ben Wah

I have a pre-order in on the new Boss DM-2. The DM-2 is the delay I always come back to and I want to buy the reissue just because it's a big new direction for Boss and I want to support it.

I have tried the Carbon Copy and it really sounds good. I liked it over the Aqua Puss, which IMHO had too much high end. I really like the reissue AD-9 from Ibanez for an affordable analog delay as well.
