Gorgeous guitar... Love the color. What's that called?
i only capable of horrible pics. please keep that in mind. my honeymoon phase first impression is that matthew larrivee has put together a very impressive guitar. the neck carve is bueatiful and perfect. it's chucnkier up toward the headstock and kind filled out a bit such that where the neck meets the spot between your thumb and first finger...there's something nice to hold on to there. as you move down the neck, the contour changes gradually to a full and more even carve. not sure if i communicating that well, but it's incredibly comfortable.
the guitar is really light, too. not so light that if feels invisible or like a toy, but really light. i'm guessing it's around 5.5, 6 lbs at the most.
and the pickups larrivee for these are gorgeous. i won't try to describe the tone just yet, because i've been playing it for about 30 minutes, but i'm really impressed w/ the pups, too.
once i have a little more time w/ it, i'll post a little update. initial impressions, though: outstanding!

When the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic. Benjamin Franklin
Really unique features and the color is gorgeous.
Is that made by the same folks that make the acoustics?
yep, same folks. i don't know much about the assembly, but matthew larrivee tells me even the electrics are nearly all handmade and they do nearly everything in house, even down to making their own lefty pots and pickguards. this particular model has the pickups that matthew builds (the produce their own slugs and such) and winds, but the hardware is callaham (sp?). can't remember if i mentioned that above. anyway, i'm loving it! there will be another one of these in my future, for sure.
