Car Advice For Moving Guitar Stuff

Right now I have a car that doesn't really have a back seat or trunk for all intents and purposes. Our other car has a lot of room (GL-550) but the deal is I don't like to drive anything that big and my wife doesn't drive standard or small cars so she doesn't like to take my car.

In the old days most cars had big trunks so there would not really be a big problem. I have been looking around a little and haven't seen anything that seems like it has a big trunk. That would ideally be what I want because leaving stuff in the back seat while I run in the store seems not smart. I had a Volvo wagon (T5, Standard) for a long time but again, stuff is exposed.

So are there any nice mid-size cars out there with decent sized trunks (think maybe a Twin sized box, pedals and maybe 3 guitar cases) or am I SOL? I drove a Toyota Venza and it's a good compromise but you can't see anything when you back up.

The other option would be to buy something like this but it's not practical. It used to be that cars had big trunks as a selling point. Calling/emailing dealerships has not been all that helpful.

Its a problem, anything with room has a lot of windows. How is Maryland, DC area on window tinting? A smaller car that might work is a Chevy HHR, its kind of a 50's panel delivery retro looking car-wagon. I've only driven a couple of them around the dealership so I can't comment on quality. They were Chevy's answer to the PT Cruiser. The Caddy would be really cool though, and wouldn't depreciate much if you bought it right! Kinda like the one in the Blues Brothers movie!

A 75 Chevy van with curtains and mag wheels. The answer almost shouts itself.

But the car you posted...man, I'd make that work somehow. Beautiful.

Yeah, I have a couple old cars already and I don't need another but if I did....

Most of what is out there now is either built for performance or it's an SUV or compact.

Not many cool cars with a nice sized trunk.

Even in the old days a cool car had a decent size trunk:
