Yes, my auditory system need a complete overhaul!

Well this forum popped up at the right time!

I have significant hearing loss, particularly in my right auditory unit. I should have been wearing hearing aids years ago. I need something like a hearing aid, in-ear-monitor, and bluetooth phone peice all-in-one! I have had tinnitus for years. And now, since I went under general anesthesia a little over a month ago, which triggered an infection in both ears. I just finished the last of my anti-biotics this morning, and the infection is still there. It feels like both eustachian tubes are packed with cotton. Back to the doc this afternoon.

At first, they'll only dislike what you say, but the more correct you start sounding the more they'll dislike you. Criss Jami

I occasionally get a ringing in my ear and I sometimes have trouble hearing when there is background noise. It isn't much of a problem so I've never seen a M.D.
I hope by the time I need a hearing aid they will be so small and of such high quality it wont be a big deal.

Thanks J.T. Guitar, I glanced at that link, will look closer at it tonight. I just got back from my "regular" doctor, he scoffed at the anti-biotic the specialist had me on for the infection. Scripted me a different ear drop, said it would clear up in a couple of days. Hopefully I can get back to my regularly scheduled tinnitus and hearing loss.

I actually remember the instant the hearing loss occurred - at a concert 15 years (+/-) ago. I was about 6 rows back, stage left, right in front of about 750 square feet of PA speakers. About 5 seconds into the first band's first song, I felt a sharp pain in my right ear and it hasn't been the same since. And I don't even remember who the band was!

Yeah, I'm worthless when there's a lot of background noise. I try to avoid those situations. I wish I could lip read.

My dog has the loudest, highest pitch bark I have ever heard from an animal. About 18 months ago, she was sitting right next to me on the couch while I was watching TV. Some noise outside startled her, and she let go with one of the loudest, highest pitch ones she could muster, right into my left ear. It felt like a fire cracker exploded in my ear canal. The ringing has never stopped, and its LOUD. I now wear cotton in my left ear almost all of the time because any kind of loud noise actually HURTS, and have to have a loud fan on when I sleep at night to hide the ringing at least a LITTLE.
    VERY GOOD, VERY GOOD!!
