Thumbs Up Carol-Ann Amps - and so it starts vol 1

Well it is about time we started the official BGT Carol-Ann amps thread.

This thread is for discussing the wonderful amps that Alan Phillips designs and builds.

    These amps include: Carol-Ann OD2, Carol-Ann OD2r, Carol-Ann OD3, Carol-Ann OD3r, Carol-Ann Tucana, Carol-Ann Tucana 2, Carol-Ann Revo, and of course the hit of the 2011 NY amp show, the Carol-Ann Triptik.

Wampler Ego compressor and Carol-Ann amps

If anybody gets a chance to try one of these pedals with their Carol-Ann amp -- they should. I am beyond smitten on how good the Wampler Ego compressor sounds with the Carol-Ann, especially the OD2r.

What really is nice about it is that you can blend some of the pure goodness of the OD2r clean tone with the Ego Compressor so you can find the right balance.

My Carol-Ann OD2r sounds even more amazing with the Wampler Ego Compressor

    I love it!

    Wampler Pedals likes this.

Gigged my Carol Ann JB 100 for the second time last night. I blend it with my Two Rock "Tone Dog". Stupid good tone. Ridiculous really. I had somewhat convinced myself for awhile that I was not worthy of this rig. About the 3rd song in last night I had a change of heart and played the best gig I've ever played. A rig like this is so inspiring it just makes you play better. Every note sounded so damn good that I had a tough time putting my geetar' down for a break. The JB 100 is a BEAST! A freaking beast of an amp. Alan Phillips knows a thing or two about building high end amps, that cannot be denied!

Sounds like a great time to me! I have a Triptik 50 watt head on order. Once that arrives my next purchase will be an od3r combo. Sounds like the perfect grab and go amp for many situations...
Enjoy that OD2r of yours, I'm jealous!!

    so you snagged one.
Are you getting stocked or are you having alan add some "tweaks" to it?

Is there a CA that leans more 'marshally' Reference tone would be along the lines of David Grissom?

Had a few nice chats with Alan via PM, seems like a nice (and sharp!) guy.

Carol-Ann's offer up tones that draw from the best of both sides of the "Pond" -- that in a nut shell is what I dig about them.

I have not flipped or even looked at other amps with bad intent since I got my first Carol-Ann. I own two .. a 50 Watt OD2, and an OD2R (17/30 depending on tubes).

OD2R is the best gigging combo amp I have owned to date period. I really dig that amp.
