What is the knob on the back? Is there an effects loop?

The bassman was completely modified --- it was sent to Smitty at "Bluetron" for the modifications and it is setup to take either tubes.

    Great sounding amp.

By the way -- I owned several "Bludotone" amps --- Brandon makes great amps as well.

Also there are usually 1.5k, or 2.2k grid stoppers in most Fender amps associated with 6L6 type tubes that have an affect on the top end sparkle that some amps lack. When changing from EL-34's to 6L6's with the resistors I mentioned, if that is what is there, the sound will not have the sparkle that you would expect from like the resistor values found in a Twin amp in comparison, the highs will be rounded off with those value resistors. I am actually working on a Bludotone right now addressing this very issue. It came with 1k Screen Grid resistors, and 3.6k Grid Stoppers. They really round off the highs, making the sound warmer, too warm for the owner of the amp here, and it has GT 6L6GE re-issues in it now. I have replaced the Screen Grid's with a 511 ohm and the 3.6k Grid Stopper's with 1.5k's, the result is way Fender-like. It also is getting something like a Phonix-type upgrade for the owner. Very shimmery cleans, with that vintage sparkle, and when you crank the volume, it breaks up very nice and takes pedals great! I will post a clip of this amp with my pedal bypassed and engaged for you to hear if you like! You then of course need to re-bias accordingly to not burn the tubes out. I personally like this tone much better. Maybe ask your tech about the resistors if you want to hear those 6L6 get that sparkle you like BUT if you have the resistors changed to the Fender Values, you cannot run EL-34's so there will be a compromise, if you want to run either. With the EL-34 wiring you can run 6L6's (with proper biasing) with the warmer sound but not the other way with EL-34's with 6L6 wiring, in case you did not know Confused yet... :^/ Basically the higher the resistor values in this case, the warmer, less sparkle... Lower the value to Fender specs and you get the sparkle...

My opinion is that currently I prefer my 5F1 clone and Princeton valve amps, but that they are run very close by my AD30VT, and some of the modelling programmes for the iPad/iPhone out there (I currently am playing with the Postive Grid Bias app which is great fun). I have also been very surprised at the tones from the fender frontman 25R that I plug in to when I'm at my lessons.

Just received a bunch of tubes I ordered from The "tube Amp Doctor" direct from Germany.

I've always had a lot of luck with their tubes.
