    Winged C 6L6 in SLO-100

First time in my SLO-100. Working out much better than the Sovtek 5881's that came stock. Crisp & clear w/better top & bottom.

what is a winged 6L6? I have 2 SLO-100s that are my main live amps, I always use Groove Tube 10s in them.

    Winged C - 6L6GC
Made in St. Petersburg, Russia factory. Same factory and specifications as the Svetlana branded tubes produced prior to 2003.

Probably others cheaper, that sound as good to others. Of course others will always argue no matter what, and no one hears exactly the same. For some some nothing but NOS will do.

I still have a quad of the original SVET branded 6L6 from 2001 for spare/compare sound check. Went to buy some more lately and find out things have changed. For dependability under plate voltage greater than 475 and hard use, I prefer these or the old sovtek 5881's. My SLO-100 is 497VDC at the power tube plates. I bias these 6L6's on the low end for longer life.

Recently got a two rock custom reverb sig that came to me with TAD's. The winged C 6L6 sounded a little better than TAD. TAD is decent tube too.

Every one has their favorites. I love these. You may not.

    Internet search reveals much.

    Just one persons harmless observations.

Nothing more & probably much less.

    Ciao

Cool man! I like learning about this stuff. To be honest I'm kind of clueless to a lot of the smaller things like what brand tubes, etc... and stuff.

    Thanks for the info!
